BLUB A Voyage to the Depths of the Sea
Performative Installation
In BLUB, our young audience can move freely around in the installation on a wonderous voyage. Two divers and a musician accompany them with light, music, choreography, and short stories, while diving deep down and under the water. Around 500,000 meters of wool were crocheted and knitted to form a colorful, artistic coral reef. Plastic bags, fruit nets, and foils form living creatures that float brightly through the water.
The journey starts on the coast. We then glide into the water – past coral reefs, sea sponges, and anemones, and other creatures that live there. A fish peers out of a crack in a rock, a worm wriggles past, a seahorse tightens its reins. Soon, we find ourselves out in the open water – above us water, below us water, beside us water. We encounter jellyfish, schools of fish, and maybe even a whale. But our journey continues even further into the depths: our destination – the floor of the sea. It gets darker and darker, and only a few colors are visible. This is where the real exploration of the deep sea begins. In what is almost pitch darkness, we meet the luminous inhabitants of the deep sea.
