Swan – The Ugly Duckling
A Surprising Transformation
Too tall, too long, too thin, too wobbly, too gray, too slow, too clumsy! Why am I different from everyone else? The little duckling has no luck. It keeps blundering along, doesn’t really fit in, and yes, it is ugly too. Not even as an egg does it resemble the others. So the duckling stumbles from one unpleasant situation to the next. It experiences loneliness, exclusion, and rejection. But then something “swan” begins to dawn on it. Where did this wing come from all of a sudden?
Based on the famous fairy tale “The Ugly Duckling” by Hans Christian Andersen, “Swan” questions what “beautiful” and “ugly” mean. And why it is not so easy to see yourself as you are.
